Linux for... well.... somebody even dumber than a dummy

So, I went to a convention with some friends this weekend, and holy crap, I managed to win a gaming laptop in a raffle. So now I have a new, powerful computer, and I'm thrilled (especially since my previous computer was over 10 years old and recently decided to die), but the OS is Linux. I'm not very tech-savvy, and I've previously only had computers that operated on Windows. So, can anybody here point me in the direction of resources (online or in print) that will teach me the basics of Linux? Information about Ubuntu would also be appreciated. Thanks!
P.S. And yes, I know my penguin icon is ironic, as I don't know thing one about Linux.
