Do you experience ASMR?

Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) is a physical sensation characterized by a pleasurable tingling that typically begins in the head and scalp, and often moves down the spine and through the limbs...

Common external triggersCollapse )

I just found out this sensation has a name. I'm curious to see how common it is.

Do you experience ASMR?

Not sure

Do my homework for me!

I'm looking for a very touristy map of L.A./Orange County/Inland Empire.  It should have movies! here, ski mountains! here and desert ghost town! here kind of thing on it.  A map kind of like this one of Busan, South Korea:

AMA, can you google better than a 7th grader (er, teacher)?

How much of your country's news media covers domestic affairs, and how much covers international affairs?

Is there any particular area of the world that your news stations seems to be ignoring but you'd like to hear more about?

Political correctness across the globe...

At what point do you think people are excused from using words that would be considered politically incorrect in your country?

I know that in the US the Native Americans get offended by being called "Indians". I've never heard them referred to as Native Americans in Sweden, partly because the word for the Native American "Indians" and people living in India are different so the people don't get confused. I guess the biggest reason is that we don't have any Native Americans around to get offended and most Swedes wouldn't even be aware that it could be an issue. Another word that is used here but isn't OK in the US is calling people with dark complexion "coloured". I've had 3 teachers the past week using that word when presenting studies comparing epidemiology between different ethnicities. As far as I know the word doesn't have as bad history here as in the US,- it's not like racism doesn't exist, it's more that racists here never used the word "coloured" in a derogatory way (I think). They had other words for that though. :/ People here are aware that they can't use the N-word but I doubt many Swedes know that Americans consider the word "coloured" problematic too and if they were speaking to an American they wouldn't know not to use it.

As I was spraying insecticide around our kitchen, I accidentally brushed up against a bit of it with my arm. Instinctively I tried to wipe it off with the other arm and then ran to the sink to wash it off with hot water and I patted it off. I used antibacterial soap and water once I was done with the kitchen about fifteen minutes later. The back of the bottle says that if any gets on your clothes or skin you should jump in the shower and wash off thoroughly and then call poison control. However, it's been about an hour and I feel fine. So what do you think, AMA? Am I going to die or should I just not worry about it?

ETA: Also, last night while spraying it (I had to stop because the smell became too much), I accidentally inhaled a little bit of the spray and it kind of burned my throat and nose so I coughed some but nothing beyond that really happened. Maybe I should just stop using dangerous sprays...
