Someone is claiming I hit their car...

Nov. 18th, 2012 | 06:14 pm
posted by: susieqpotter in ask_me_anything

So, I got an email last night from someone claiming I hit their car on October 25th. This person said that a witness saw me do it. Here is the email:

I got your email from {name}, the secretary of the Raleigh Institute of Religion. A witness saw you hit my car October 25th 2012 in the Institute parking lot and drive away. According to the North Carolina General Statutes, you are required by law to have left a note, or otherwise contacted me within 48 hours, with the time, date and place of accident, your name, address, and drivers license number, and the license plate number of the car you were driving. (Chapter 20, sections 166 and 166.1, and
I have taken my car to two body shops to get quotes for repairs, both about $550. How you want to pay for this? By paying a body shop directly or going through your insurance company?
Please respond by email or phone by Monday or I will contact the police to help sort this out.

This to me is crazy. I do not recall ever having hit/dented/dinged anything a car in that parking lot, though I do park there. I am wondering what I should do. I am in school to be a teacher, so I cannot have some hit and run charge, even one that ends up dropped or thrown out, on my record. I'm wondering is a "witness" really enough to pin this on me? I'm sure there are other blonde girls who drive black cars! I don't want to pay for something that I didn't do!

This is all I said to her:

Hello. I am very surprised to receive this email. I do occasionally go to Institute for church activities, but I do not recall having hit a car and there is not any kind of new damage on my vehicle? My boyfriend also uses the car so this is a possibility? I am not saying you are lying or anything...I'm just not sure when/how this would have happened?  If I or someone using my car is indeed responsible, I will gladly sort this out with you via the insurance company.

Men's Rights Movement

Last night, I stumbled on a website about the Men's Rights Movement.  While I haven't swallowed the red pill quite yet, I confess they have some interesting concepts.

Some observationsCollapse )

Curious to hear what others think about the MRM.

Oh, the horror!

Of bugs...

Can any of you tell me what this is? I didn't get a picture of it and it was a couple years ago but it really stuck in my mind.

For about six months, I lived in a house in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was one level with a basement. There was a serious infestation of OMFG huge ass spiders (of the mostly poisonous kinds found here) and other things. I had my washer and dryer down there so I was mostly okay up top. (The basement freaked me out a bit. Supposedly, it was linked to over houses via some secret basement tunnels. It probably belonged to a polygamy clan at one time.)

So when those horrible spiders and other bugs came up top, I kind of tried to do the whole trap and release program (eg, trap, carefully walk outside, throw icky away while screaming like the girl I am.)

This one wandered into my bedroom, however. It looked like a huge centipede; a long, thick worm-like body with lots and lots of legs. It had to be like four inches long and it was quite big. I had to get a glass bowl to trap it. It was almost pure white with red spots on it.

I never saw another like it again. Does anyone know what it was? Was it harmless? I don't know why it's stuck with me. I had no camera or internet at the time so I didn't get to look it up. XD~

 I am an adult and i don't really have anything against cursing or using "strong" language, I have been known to add some color to my language but I usually refrain from using to many curse words when around new people.

Tonight I had a break time coffee date with a guy that works in the shopping center near me.  Every other work he said was an F bomb and he uses sentences that were completely pointless other than to toss out another curse word. "I mean, SHIT,dude, Fuck." (He actually said that..!) then when break was over he said, "hell, that was fun, we, shheeeeeiiittt, ya, we  should hang out again."
What type of first impression would this type of interaction leave you with?
I was very much put off by his language, and really couldn't wait for it to be over. >.<   I hate being single. :( Ugh.,

Weird, obscure computer question

Apr. 5th, 2011 | 09:30 am

Why would Google Chrome not be able to load What kind of bizarre ontological paradox is this? Why do I have to resort to using bing in Chrome? Shouldn't the cosmos be destroyed by doing that?

I love my Chrome. It's fantastic. But often my copy of Chrome literally struggles and then fails with loading the default google search page like it's some monstrous website. Other times it loads instantaneously as it should. Gmail and the rest of my Google life work fine. I also haven't noticed this in the other browsers. Updating Chrome and even using the dev version doesn't change it. Extensive google searching (when it's available) turns up nothing about this weird little problem. Though needless to say a Google product not working with Google is not the easiest thing to form search phrases about.

I have run through multiple computer cleaning processes including the exhaustive malware removal guide. It seems clean. The computer runs flawlessly. It's just Google Chrome sometimes resents its parent site.

Have You Ever Heard Of This?

I once read that movie posters have rules.  Like if someone has a gun they must be clearly identified as a cop or part of the military.  Also a African Americans can not be on a poster alone.  There must be a white person somewhere on the poster, most likely in the background.  Is this true?  I need to find where I read that so I can use it as a source for a school project.  Please help.

Figured it out. It's a conspiracy theory someone came up with... And I got it wrong. Its if a African American has a gun they must be identified as a cop or in the military. There was also something about someone can't be alone on the poster but I don't remember...

So, I was supposed to contact someone about setting up a job interview this coming week. However, due to an ongoing health problem, it looks like there is no way I will be able to be employed any time soon. (Said health problem is the actually the reason I quit my previous job a month ago - then, trying to be helpful I guess, my mom passed around my resume to some contacts thinking I might magically be better or something...but I'm definitely not).

The question is, is there any reason why I SHOULDN'T just politely cancel, saying something along the lines of "thank you for your interest, but due to a health problem I will need to take some time off right now" (without going into specific details of the problem)? If there is a 0% chance I would actually accept the job if it were offered to me, is there any reason I should force myself through the interview and then decline afterwards? It seems like this would just be a waste of everyone's time, but the only potential reason I can think of is if I wouldn't want to admit to them that I had a health problem (i.e., if I went to the interview and they offered the job I could just say I didn't think it would be the right fit, or I was looking into other things, or something).

It seems to me that they would probably just move on and not worry about it, and when I do look for a future job I'd probably have to mention a health problem anyway to explain the employment gap, so even if in some weird case they decided to broadcast information around it's not like it would be so horrible. But I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything in my reasoning here.

What's your color

I'm not all about sex but this is something I've been thinking about for awhile. I've been thinking about different colored sex belts like they do in martial arts. The colors and explanations are as follows:

White = Virgin of course
Yellow = Virgin with carnal knowledge and maybe some experiance
Rainbow = Gay & Lesbian
Pink, Blue & Violet = Bisexual
Brown = Anal
Black & Blue = Bondage & Domination

I would wear a yellow belt sorry for taking up so much space.

So what's your color?

Do you think it is both laughable and hypocritical that so many people are opposed to governments using a means to control the human population [free or subsidized birth control means, legalized therapeutic abortion, one child policy, etc] ? While keeping in mind many of these same people make no gripe when the populations of other animals are subject to being controlled on the grounds that the over breeding is leading to over use of resources and starvation.

Personally I think the human population should have considerable means put on it to keep it in line with resource availability.

Is this fair?

Do you think it is fair if someone asks you to pay them back for something that:
- they bought FOR you,
- and when they gave it to you they never mentioned that they wanted to be paid back,
- and said that they were giving it to you as a gift?

Do you think it is fair of someone to ask for money for something with these conditions now 5 or 6 years later after the fact?

In this case, the amount in question is $2000.

What do you think?
