Hoping there's a few mechanics in here:

I drive a Vauxhall Corsa SXI, 1.2. It's MOT was at the end of May. The car's year is 2002 and recently it's started to make a ticking/rattling noise. It's not particularly loud but I notice it as I drive.
I mostly notice that the noise occurs when I first start the engine then when I'm in third gear.
It has made that exact same noise before and I was told it was because I was starving the engine of oil! (oooops!). When I filled the car up with oil (the first time) it was perfectly fine, no noise at all, for about 9-10 months....until now.

Since then I check the oil more regularly than before and on hearing the noise this time around I checked it immediately, found it was a little low, but not dangerously so. So I topped it up. Now it's at the correct level and it's STILL making the noise. The noise isn't continouous, it comes and goes.

I've had a look at some forums online, done a bit of googling and have come up with a few suggestions. Such as:
- the oil might be struggling to get through the engine, if you rev it a bit it'll be fine
- the timing chain

Anybody got any suggestions?
