[Stevan Kaplan] cites academic studies that suggest that 2% to 4% of death-row inmates are probably innocent. "If that was the rate of failure of airplanes," he says, "would you fly?"

If 2% of all commercial airliners fell out of the sky, would you take a plane?

ETA: According to various sources there are around 30,000 commercial flights each day, wordlwide. This would mean 600 flights a day would crash.
