I keep getting a Living Social deal for a $36 custom XBOX 360 controller. I went to the company's website today (MS4R to check out the options and basically, it's $36 for a base model and then an additional amount of money for each additional part that you want customized (ie: +$10 for a green battery pack cover, +$7 for orange thumbsticks, etc). I built one on the website to get an idea of what the cost would be, and it came to like $160. If I buy the deal, it'll be about $125, and I'm sure there's shipping too.
I've made custom things before, and I don't like how this is additional money for each thing I want to do. Usually, the custom version is just a certain set price, and you do whatever you want to it (mostly I've done sneakers). One of the main things I don't like is that it doesn't show you a mockup of what you're going to get, so even though I know what I'm selecting, it's basically a surprise when I open the box.
Anyone ever made a custom game controller before? Is there a better website to use?
