Bad writing or not?

Background: I'm a student at college studying Business Admin in the UK and for one of my assignments, I have to type up a press release as written on the paper and the following sentence was included:

Caren J Lewis, sales director, said: “I am pleased to welcome David to the team. I am sure his wide knowledge of the housing sector will give our business a real opportunity to increase profits and growth.”

Is it just me or does that sentence look wrong? Shouldn't sales director be capitalised as it is Caren's job title?
