Darn it all to heck!

Yesterday I went to my aunt's place with my laptop in a bag. When I went to turn it on it was screwed up. The screen won't turn on. The light on the caps lock button keeps flashing and the light that indicates whether the WiFi signal is connected shows it's not.

That morning it was working fine. The only thing I can think of is that it got damaged while it was in the bag. But I can't see anything wrong with it.

So how badly is it fucked up? Is there a way to fix this or will I have to get a new laptop?

If I have to get a new laptop will I be able to take the hard drive out of this one and put it in the new one?

Edited to add more info: It's an HP Pavilion laptop, model # G62-435DX. Also the fan turns on when it starts up and the only way to turn it off is to press and hold the power button. Sorry I don't know how to describe it better.
