Why is it that people can say something like "you're completely wrong. It's proven been proven that repeating something over and over will make people believe. That's why you're wrong. You've just been listening to the wrong people and have been brainwashed. If only you could see it..." or something along that ilk and not realize that this philosophy also applies to themselves?

I mean this in the general use in conversations and not for a more professional conversation (eg, like that of a therapist and patient type of situation.)
