Can you think of any examples of instances where things that are wrong* have become necessary?

(*Ideally I am looking for "wrong" as in logically incorrect, rather than morally undesirable - but feel free to interpret as you wish - The question was inspired by me wondering if the (imo incorrect) fatalist view of the world is preserved in India(and the surrounds) not because it is really believed, but because it's the only way to deal with life there)
