Resume Question

During the Winter 2012 semester, I was enrolled in a television production class. I was one of the producers for the show. The show is broadcast on our local PBS station.

I had a falling out with the professor, and I stopped attending class. I produced 3 segments of the show, and I am credited as a producer on the show.

Should I include this on my resume if I didn't finish the course?

Soda Ban

New York has proposed a ban on the sale of all large sodas in an attempt to fight obesity. With this ban, it will be illegal to sell any beverage (including soda, juices, specialty coffees, smoothies, etc) over 16 oz with more than 25 calories per 8 ounces.

Do you think this is a good idea that will actually reduce obesity or should people have the freedom to choose for themselves?

Realtor gossip!

Over the past year, I've been meeting with my finance advisor about purchasing a condo. I was a bit anxious about the process so I wanted to be extra careful and make sure I would be good to go before I start the process of approval. Anyway, I was preapproved last month and lined up a realtor - a friend's referral. On Saturday, she called me and I assumed it would be to start looking at condos. Unfortunately, she wound me up basically inferring that the bank was only approving me to humour me, asking me if I was in financial trouble, wondering if my parents were going to help me out. She was trying to get me to go to another bank because they told her that I wouldn't be able to find a condo. I got really upset and embarrassed about it on the call assuming I couldn't afford it but when I thought it through she was just sketchy and pressuring me too much. In the end, it turned out she was asking the bank to approve me for $40K more than I told her I would pay. Ridiculous.

Do you have a crazy realtor story? Please share so I don't feel like I'm the only one who had to deal with this. If you're a realtor, feel free to share a crazy client story as well.

It's (hopefully) agreed upon that an inebriated person can not give sexual consent once they are drunk. This is of course because their thought process is altered by the alcohol/drugs in their system. To play devil's advocate for a second, why should someone be able to withdraw consent after they are drunk? Their ability to think is just as impaired as someone drunk and not giving consent in the first place. Why should it be assumed that not having sex is what they really want since they are inebriated, especially when they were totally sober they did say they wanted to have sex?

To illustrate with an example, you are with a friend and you both want to have sex. You both are in total agreement that this is what you want, and decide to have a few drinks just to loosen up. You have some shots and are quickly drunk. Your friend, while in the drunken state, withdraws consent. No real reason is given.

I am NOT arguing that it should be OK to go on and have sex in this situation. It's just a question that popped into my head and wanted some feedback on it.

Vitamin expiry dates

I recently went to a doctor for a pregnancy test, and when it came back positive he came back with a box full of samples of Materna vitamins. I thought he was offering me one sample (about a week's worth) but he said to take the whole box. When I got home, I saw the reason: They expire 06/2012. If it's like most things, that means they're good until the end of June, but should I throw out whatever is left after that? How much do sealed vitamins degrade/lose potency? I do have a new bottle of prenatal vitamins on hand anyways, but want to know what to do with what will be about four weeks of vitamins left at the end of their life.

Inspired by the allergy post...

My husband has been told all his life that he's allergic to tree nuts. He always said he didn't know what he reaction was, but that he'd been told this all his life. We once brought it up with his mom, who said it stems from when he was little, and she was baking cookies with nuts in them and he complained of a headache from the smell. Apparently a cousin or other relative of his has this same complaint which is why his mom took it seriously.

Is this an actual allergy symptom? If I eat mixed nuts, even right beside him, he isn't bothered, so neither of us knows if he's actually allergic, but of course neither of us wants to pop an almond into his mouth just to check.

There seems to have been a recent trend internationally about the city I live in, from Anthony Bourdain to the New York Times. I'm not sure if this translates into a real exposure to real people.

In your opinion, would you consider it to be shitty for someone to not go be with their spouse if they (said spouse) were in a car accident just blocks from where you live? Would it make a difference if it was only a fender bender (but bad enough to require a police report and a fire truck)?

ETA: By you I mean the other person. I need to not internet when medicated.

I did google this but I didn't find anything that I wasn't already aware of so I'm coming to all of you in case you know something I couldn't find.

My best friend is flying to Pittsburgh this summer from Manchester, England. I've been looking at tickets for about a month now and I can't find anything less than around 1,000.00 USD. I also looked into him flying later in September/October thinking maybe its just more expensive in the summer but tickets seem to be about the same price. We are willing to spend the money but it just seems so much more than it has been previously. I flew to London last year for half of that.

Does anyone have any tips for finding a cheaper flight, whether its the time of the year, or anything else or is that a good price?
